below is the official statement from the ISAF  council meeting-

The International Sailing
Federation (ISAF) has confirmed
the final event and equipment selections
for the Rio 2016 Olympic Sailing
Competition.
The ISAF Council voted
that Kiteboarding will replace
windsurfing for the men's and women's board
events and confirmed the equipment
that will be used for the Women's Skiff
and Mixed Multihull Events.

The
Mackay FX, referred to as the 49er
FX, was selected yesterday as the two person
women's skiff and today the
Nacra 17 joins the Olympic equipment family after
being selected for the
two person mixed multihull event.

The 49er FX
received the majority
of votes from the ISAF Council in the first round after
the six evaluation
trial entries were narrowed down to just three; the 29erXX,
the RS900 and
the 49er FX.

There was an equally animated debate on the
final
morning of the Council meeting at this year's ISAF Mid-Year Meeting to

decide the equipment to be selected for the mixed multihull event. After

discussing the recommendations from the Evaluation Panel, the Equipment

Committee and the Events Committee, Council voted between the Nacra 17 and the

Viper with the Nacra 17 securing the majority.

The final discussion
on
the events and equipment for the 2016 Olympic Sailing Competition was
about the
men's and women's board events with Council voting in favour or

kiteboarding.

In November 2011 an evaluation group was appointed to

examine kiteboarding formats with the board events for Rio 2016 defined as

'windsurfing and/or kiteboarding'. The Evaluation Group recommended that

kiteboarding be included in the ISAF Event family including the ISAF
Sailing
World Cup and the ISAF Sailing World Championships but Council went
one step
further and selected Kiteboarding for the Rio 2016 Olympic Sailing
Competition
as well.

The ISAF Windsurfing and Kiteboarding Committee
will consider
and make further recommendations to Council on the
implementation of the
inclusion of kiteboarding at their meeting in
November 2012 at the ISAF Annual
Conference.

ISAF President Göran
Petersson said, "These announcements
mark a new era for sailing and we
welcome the new classes into the ISAF family.
The equipment selections have
fulfilled the criteria set out by the Evaluation
Panel and we look forward
to seeing the boats not only at the Rio 2016 Olympic
Games, but the ISAF
Sailing World Cup and ISAF Sailing World

Championships.

"Kiteboarding has proven to us that it is ready to be

included into the list of prestigious ISAF Events and it is a fantastic addition

to the sailing programme for the 2016 Olympic Games."

The events to
be
contested at the 2016 Olympic Games are confirmed as:
Men's

Kiteboarding
Women's Kiteboarding
Men's One Person Dinghy -

Laser
Women's One Person Dinghy - Laser Radial
Men's One Person Dinghy

(heavy) - Finn
Men's Two Person Dinghy - 470
Women's Two Person
Dinghy -
470
Men's Skiff - 49er
Women's skiff - 49er FX
Mixed Two
Person
Multihull - Nacra 17

These ten events will be featured in the
2012-2013
ISAF Sailing World Cup which kicks off in Melbourne in December
and will come
together in Santander, Spain in 2014 for the ISAF Sailing
World
Championships.

ISAF Council also approved applications from
Kosovo (Group
C) and Vietnam (Group K) for full member status.

Lee boosting a Raley
We had a great day Kitesurfing at Marazion Cornwall yesterday, Saturday 14th Jan  for the KKC Frostbite gathering. With 2012 kit available to test from North, Slingshot and Ocean Rodeo and a SE wind blowing at 20-25knts the 40 or so kitesurfers that came along put up with the cold 6 degree temps on the beach and had some great times in the water boosting some big airs and learning some new stuff by watching some of the pro riders who came along to help with the demo  kit. I even went on the Twin Tip and boosted some massive airs on the new 2012 Fuse 10m.
We then all went back to Lodeys for a chilli and mulled wine/cider while watching the days action on the big screen, thanks to Mel from Splashography.
Check out and buy the pics from the day at

The next club meet is in March at Watergate for the AGM  followed by a big party.

Board Talk
Our 1st Kite wave clinic of this winter went down in deepest Cornwall on the weekend just gone, 12/13th Nov with great success. 5 guys traveled down from as far as Ipswich & Hayling Island to be greated at Gwithian on Saturday morning to perfect 4-5ft waves but unfortunately no wind.
Some of us jumped in for a surf before we got Pasties and recoveined at Marazion at 12pm to await the forecasted se wind. With small waves and the breeze filling in we kicked off with a board talk, showing the differences between all the 2012 North surfboards.
We then pumped our 12s and went for a quick wave ride before the wind dropped slightly and we were back on the beach for a tacking talk followed by an on water demo. We then postponed until the sunday.
As soon as it got dark then wind filled right in (typical) and sunday dawned with 25-30 knts and 2 ft waves at Marazion. A full day followed, covering riding tech, getting out, Gybing, Tacking and strapless jumping, with everyone leaving happy, tired and with plenty to practise.
We received some great feedback, such as; 'Best £60 I've spent in a long time'
Big thanks to Joe from JNP Events for doing the photos. All the pics of the demos and the guys ripping are availble to buy their website- http://jnpevents.co.uk/photocart/

Our next clinic is on the 26th Nov @ Gwithian and there are currently 3 spaces available so be quick at just £60 for 6 hours. contact me by email lee@pastyadventures.co.uk
cheers and stay safe

The autumn seems to have suddenly kicked in and has brought with it the long awaited wind. The result is perfect kitesurfing weather at marazion and gwithian and with the schools gone back the beaches of Cornwall are now a lot quieter making september the perfect time of year to learn to kitesurf in cornwall.
Pasty Adventures have just taken new stock of 2012 North kites and boards so be one of the first people to test out the latest kit with a kitesurfing lesson at West Cornwall only BKSA recognised school.
We have also recruited pro surfer and kiter, Richie Sills who along with Lee Pasty will be running wave clinics at Gwithian in November. The school is planned to stay open right up until Christmas and we have also organised some exciting coaching trips abroad for the new year. Be sure to check out the details on the holiday page.

Had some nice waves this afternoon kitesurfing, My self and Sillsy tried out Porthtowan first but it was just too gusty but nice waves. after Sillsy crashed his kite I had enough after half an hour of it gusting from 10-30 mph and decided to drive to Gwithian in my wettie with the Rebel 7  lines attached and struts up in the car.

A great end to a good week after some nice days teaching at Marazion with some great students. Looks good for kite lessons end of this week too. Still some space left too.
Have a great end to your sunday.
