Summer 2017 has been producing amazing conditions for kitesurfing in Cornwall. Both Marazion and Gwithian have seen perfect flat water days as well as wave days for the more advanced riders. We have had wind from 10 - 40 knts with an average of 5 windy days a week. Pretty good for kitsurfing in the UK over the summer months. Fingers crossed the conditions carry on and we have an amazing windy and wavey autumn. As well as beginner kitesurf lessons we have also been running lots of advanced and intermediate kite coaching sessions and we also have our Autumn Wave Clinics. Get in touch with us if you want to improve your kitesurfing in Cornwall whatever your level or style. Keep and eye on the website and facebook page for all the details

While the last month has been mostly too windy to Kitesurf in Cornwall, out here in Cape Town it has been unusually quiet on the wind front meaning we have had to hunt for other wind or wait for the SE Cape Doctor to come in late in Table View. Still we have had some amazing sessions, check out this write up by myself and Danny Morrice along with some awesome pics from a NW day at Witsands on Kiteworld -http://www.kiteworldmag.com/features/sessions-cape-of-good-fun/ Please also watch Part 1 of my 3 part Cape Town video series below- Just over a week left in South Africa now then I am off to Morocco to prepare for our upcoming Coaching Holiday in Dakhla. Still have space so don't miss out on this amazing deal contact me by email today. All details on the trip here.
We are back in Cornwall end of March after the PKRA World Tour Wave comp in Dakhla and will be open for Kitesurf Lessons as soon as conditions are good. We will also be running a Refresher and Wave Clinic at Marazion/Gwithian in April. Details will be out soon! Take care and stay safe. Lee 'Pasty' Harvey Here we are coming to the end of my 3rd week in Cape Town and we have only had 2 days without any action on the water which meant we could be cheesy tourists for a day;) Although its not been as windy as normal with the Cape Doctor (se wind) mostly turning up late in the day, we have had some great conditions for kite wave riding and also a few days of epic surf down the point. I'm staying at the super nice Cape Town Kite Club and recommend anyone coming to South Africa to stay here as it is right in Big Bay within a 2 minute walk of the beach, restaurants, pubs and shops with all the facilities on hand including an indoor Braii (bbq) and lovely swimming pool which is perfect for cooling off in whilst waiting for the wind. Last week we had the South African Kite Tour event at Big Bay where I placed 4th in the waves, losing in the semis to event winner and 3 time SA Champ, Luke McGillewie who was the only other competitior riding strapless in the challenging close out waves. Still a great event with some awesome riding in the Freestyle final by Jonno and Ozzie wowing the crowds. While out here I am super pleased to be involved with a new Kitesurf Wave Coaching series from Progression which is due for release towards the end of the year. Be sure to Like their page on facebook to stay up to date with how its going and to see some teaser clips. Below is our first test with the amazing FS700 super slow mo camera on a NW day down the point at pumping Witsands. Be sure to follow Pasty Adventures on Facebook to see all the news and pics from our time out here in the Cape of Good Fun! Have you checked out our upcoming Kitesurf Holiday in Dakhla 1st - 12th March. Currently still have space, click here for more details. Thanks for reading, stay safe and Happy Kiting :) Lee 'Pasty' Harvey While I have had a couple of new 2014 kites to test for a few weeks today saw all my new North kites arrive in Cornwall. We are pleased to have a full quiver of Dice to use within the school and will have them available to demo at the BKSA Wavemasters in Tiree 16-21st september. Pasty Cup 25th – 26th May 2013. British Kitesurf Racing Championships. Marazion, Cornwall Excitement is building with 2 weeks to go until the Pasty Cup sponsored by The National Marine Aquarium, The Seiners Arms & Philps pasties at Marazion, Cornwall over the bank holiday weekend 25-26 May. The Pasty Cup is the 1st of 4 events counting towards the 2013 British Kitesurf Racing Championships. Kitesurf Racing is the fastest form of sailing around an upwind/downwind course using big colourful kites over a mile long course set as close to the shore as conditions allow. Riders reach speeds up to 30mph, racing in winds ranging from 6-30 mph. In the event of wind in excess of 30mph the Kernow King of the Air event will run, where competitors are judged on jumping as high as possible with style. A spectacle not to be missed! Organiser Lee Harvey of Pasty Adventures kitesurfing school states: ‘I am pleased to announce the country’s top racers are confirmed such as, 3 times British Champion - Denzil Williams. 2012 Pasty Cup, British & youth World Champion – Olly Bridge along with his mum, women’s World No.1 & 4 x World Champ – Steph Bridge from Exmouth. Alongside the known racers with have some new names in the Race fleet and with entries also coming in for the Open Fleet we are expecting a great turn out for 2 days of fast and furious racing in what I strongly believe is the best kitesurfing location in Britain. The inclusion of Kernow King of the Air, means whatever the weather we will have competition running over both days with plenty for spectators to come and enjoy.’ Come along to Marazion and check out the Pasty Cup over the Bank Holiday weekend and you can even have a go at powerkite flying. All the details can be found on the website www.pastyadventures.co.uk/events If you are thinking of entering then download the entry form here and send back before 17th May to avoid the late fee. Our recent Intermediate Twin Tip kitesurfing clinic with BKSA Coach, Lee Harvey ran on sunday 14th april at Marazion in a chilly but sunny south easterly wind. Despite the wind playing games, meaning we had to change kites half way through, the 4 guys all learnt lots to push their kitesurfing level upwards over the coming months. Starting off with on land demos we looked at; riding toeside, jumps, pop, and backrolls. We then progressed onto on water demos on each segment before the guys took on the moves themselves. Below is a little video of the clinic. Next Intermediate clinic is planned for Sat 24th June. Details on the clinic page Feedback from the guys- 'The best thing about it for me was it gave me more confidence to just 'have a go' and try some new moves, rather than doing the same thing.' 'Didn't have any expectations as I've never had lessons or coaching before. It was good to see what it like, I thought it was good value and would do it agian.' 'I think it did what it was meant to for all of us and give more knowledge to help move our kiting on over the summer.' Lee has just released a new Kitesurfing Technique blog to give Tips on all aspects of kitesurfing. Starting of with race tech in the build up to the IKA Course Racing Worlds in Sardinia, he will be covering wave technique over the winter as well as many other valuable tips to help with your Kitesurfing. Subscribe to the blog here http://www.leepasty.co.uk/technique-blog.html Lee is now back in Cornwall running kitesurfing lessons at Gwithian and Marazion after his 3 week adventure in Portugal for round 1 of the 2012 KSP World Tour. Unfortunately the wind did'nt play ball after Lee dominated his Round 1 heat advancing straight to a round 3 match up with 2008 World Champ, Mitu Monteiro from Cape Verde. After hanging around all week, with the wind teasing and numerous heats starting and stopping, the event finally ended without a result as there were still 2 heats left to run in round 2. Some great waves were had both surfing and kiting at some of Portugals numerous World class spots, with Lee making the most of being away from Cornwall in the sun and having the van to get around, taking with him some of the best kitesurfers and surfers in the World, such as Ozzie wiz kid, Keahi de Aboitiz and former ASP Top 44 surfer Pedro Henrique from Brasil. Check out the small vid from the trip below. Next up for the tour is Mauritius in September and you can be there amongst it while enjoying a week of top class coaching from Lee and 2011 womens One Eye Pro winner, Ninja the week before the event. More details in the Holiday pages Having some time off the water after having my nose gluded back together on saturday has meant i have finally finished the video form our Adventures in The Lake District back in september. Check it out in the video section.
Currently keeping my nose dry for a few more days gearing up for another weekend of epic conditions. Will it beat fridays triple overhead session at the Bluff with just me out. Neap tides mean it could be even better, lets hope so. Fingers crossed will have some good light for the Go Pro and Ding is back and coming down. Ye Ha! |
