Our 2014 Dakhla coaching holiday ran from 1st - 12th March. Arriving we were greeted with strong winds and had the first morning on the Lagoon at Dakhla Spirit Camp to assess the level and get used to the wind before moving to the beach break wave spot of Point d'lor in the afternoon. The following days we had amazing kitesurf wave conditions at Oum Laboiur the famous right had point situated near the town and the guys all learnt lots and started to really improve their kitesurfing in the waves. Unfortunately on day 5 the wind dropped off and was not enough to kite so after a board chat we had a trip around the town exploring the markets and eating some great seafood. Over the next 3 days the swell came back but not the wind so we went to surf at Arish, one of the best waves in the whole of Africa where you can ride for over 500m with 20 turns before walking back up the point and doing it all again. In the afternoons and evenings we covered all aspects of theory related to kitesurfing in waves. On the final few days the wind started to come back in the afternoons enough for a few more lagoon sessions to polish off the tacks and gybes before the last day which saw head high perfection at Oum Laboiur again. A great trip was had by all with amazing food, nice people, a great place to stay at the Surf House and action on all but one day. We were pretty unlucky with the wind as it had been blowing non-stop for 3 months, but that's the way it goes and we still had some great surf! Stay tuned to the website and our Facebook page for news of our next Kitesurf Coaching Holiday and be sure to book early for Dakhla 2015. Post by Pasty Adventures. Feedback so far-
'Golfers get lessons all the time. We spend thousands on kit and yrs making same mistakes. Lee teaches you to appreciate real strapless surfing and you can save money buying the right gear after! Really recommend for anyone into waves . I felt real improvement in just few days and was good fun'Mark Stephen While the last month has been mostly too windy to Kitesurf in Cornwall, out here in Cape Town it has been unusually quiet on the wind front meaning we have had to hunt for other wind or wait for the SE Cape Doctor to come in late in Table View. Still we have had some amazing sessions, check out this write up by myself and Danny Morrice along with some awesome pics from a NW day at Witsands on Kiteworld -http://www.kiteworldmag.com/features/sessions-cape-of-good-fun/ Please also watch Part 1 of my 3 part Cape Town video series below- Just over a week left in South Africa now then I am off to Morocco to prepare for our upcoming Coaching Holiday in Dakhla. Still have space so don't miss out on this amazing deal contact me by email today. All details on the trip here.
We are back in Cornwall end of March after the PKRA World Tour Wave comp in Dakhla and will be open for Kitesurf Lessons as soon as conditions are good. We will also be running a Refresher and Wave Clinic at Marazion/Gwithian in April. Details will be out soon! Take care and stay safe. Lee 'Pasty' Harvey We are really excited to be going back to Dakhla, one of our favorite places in the World to Kitesurf. For 2014 we have sorted out a really great deal with our friends at Kite Morocco staying at the new Dakhla Spirit Surf House.
Strictly limited to 6 people per coaching session. (i.e 6 for wave, 6 for freeride). Private room and beginner packages available, details on request. Flights are currently around £300-£330, for the 1st - 12th we recommend using Royal Air Maroc, Gatwick - Dakhla and for the 1st - 8th we recommend using the RAM Heathrow - Dakhla flight which we have found cheapest with Edreams. Due to the need for an overnight stop in Casablanca on the return leg we recommend staying at the nearby Relax Airport Hotel (formally Atlas Hotel) which has a free shuttle outside the airport and costs around £60 for the night including breakfast. Places are strictly limited to a max of 6 for Wave coaching and 6 for Freeride. Please don't hesitate to contact with any questions or queries. We have been to Dakhla many times so can help out with most things! Email [email protected] to book, this is a one off special deal and probably your last chance to visit Dakhla for under £1000! More info on the website http://www.pastyadventures.co.uk/dakhla.html Here we are coming to the end of my 3rd week in Cape Town and we have only had 2 days without any action on the water which meant we could be cheesy tourists for a day;) Although its not been as windy as normal with the Cape Doctor (se wind) mostly turning up late in the day, we have had some great conditions for kite wave riding and also a few days of epic surf down the point. I'm staying at the super nice Cape Town Kite Club and recommend anyone coming to South Africa to stay here as it is right in Big Bay within a 2 minute walk of the beach, restaurants, pubs and shops with all the facilities on hand including an indoor Braii (bbq) and lovely swimming pool which is perfect for cooling off in whilst waiting for the wind. Last week we had the South African Kite Tour event at Big Bay where I placed 4th in the waves, losing in the semis to event winner and 3 time SA Champ, Luke McGillewie who was the only other competitior riding strapless in the challenging close out waves. Still a great event with some awesome riding in the Freestyle final by Jonno and Ozzie wowing the crowds. While out here I am super pleased to be involved with a new Kitesurf Wave Coaching series from Progression which is due for release towards the end of the year. Be sure to Like their page on facebook to stay up to date with how its going and to see some teaser clips. Below is our first test with the amazing FS700 super slow mo camera on a NW day down the point at pumping Witsands. Be sure to follow Pasty Adventures on Facebook to see all the news and pics from our time out here in the Cape of Good Fun! Have you checked out our upcoming Kitesurf Holiday in Dakhla 1st - 12th March. Currently still have space, click here for more details. Thanks for reading, stay safe and Happy Kiting :) Lee 'Pasty' Harvey Last weekend 2nd - 3rd Nov, I traveled up to Porthcawl in Wales to run a kitesurf wave clinic organised by Blast Kiteboarding and local legend Marc Rowley. Despite being blown off the water saturday afternoon, we had some great conditions (especially on my dawnie at the point!) and everyone learnt lots. For a full write up & pics check out Marc's blog - http://blastkiteboarding.blogspot.co.uk/2013/11/lee-pasty-wave-clinic.html Pretty pleased with the feedback (see below) and Marc is already talking about another one in Wales in the spring. If you would like a Wave Clinic at you spot please get in touch. My next planned clinic is in Cape Town mid Jan 2014. Details TBC Or join me on a Pasty Adventures coaching holiday to Dakhla, Morocco in March. Freeride on the lagoon week 1, waves on the point week 2. A fantastic weekend. I've been kitesurfing for 8 years. And waveriding for I reckon 6 years. The point is Lee has been doing it for twice as long and has been pushing the boundaries of waveriding in the UK since the start. To listen to Lee during the hurricane was pure gold dust. I learnt more in that 3 hours than in 3 years of getting yanked around at Llangennith. Got some bad old habits that require some attention, but I know what to work on now. Good to here that Lee will return and I'll look forward to that. Book early to avoid disappointment. Think it might be oversubscribed. Thanks to Lee, Marc and Sarah. -------------------------------------------------------- Awesome weekend with a great bunch. I've only been using a surf board for a few weeks and have learned so much. Theory was explained in simple terms and demonstrated by Lee so well, he made everything look so simple, if only it was. I realise now that using a surf board strapless or with, is something that will take time and perseverance so if you see me in the water rather than on it you know what I'm up to. I would definitely do another clinic with Lee and recommend it to anyone looking to improve their riding.. Also thanks to Blast for setting it up and for the beach commentary whilst Lee was doing his thing in the waves.. ------------------------------------------------------- Lee was great, he took us from the position of an absolute beginner at wave riding (me) through to the technical aspects of board shape and even fin selection - a side of wave riding I didn't even know existed! So sorry I couldn't attend both days, but just from yesterday I found lots of knowledge and inspiration to work on. Thanks To Blast for organising a great event. Finally mid October has produced some amazing Kitesurf conditions here in Cornwall. South swell and mostly south winds has seen some epic jumping sessions and teaching days at Marazion while Gwithian has been perfect for getting into waveriding with cross shore winds and waist to head high waves. This weekend we had 3 guys on a private wave coaching weekend and they all learnt lots, going from struggling to get out on sat morning to riding down the line by sunday afternoon. Great to see and even better that they all had the North Whip after my recommendations as it really is the best kitesurf production board out there ;) Coming into the winter months we are still running beginner kitesurfing lessons in Cornwall right up until Christmas. We can also run private coaching or clinics in Waves or Twin Tip Freeride, check out whats available here and get in touch to discuss the best options for you. In January and Feb we will be out in Cape Town and are available for Private coaching. Lee has been to the Cape for 4 winters so if you want to have a days guiding to get to know the spots or some coaching to improve while on your hols? Then we can help you out. Please email to discuss possible options. In March we are running two Kitesurf Coaching weeks to Dakhla, Morocco. Week 1 is Freeriding on the Lagoon with Week 2, Waves at the perfect right hand pointbreak of Oum Laboiur. Price from £560 staying in the Ocean Spirit house, all meals, transfers etc. Excl. flights which are currently around £350. Limited space so be quick. Details here Happy Kitesurfing and remember to stay safe, check your equipment and know your limits. I hope to see you kitesurfing on a beach in Cornwall or on one of our Pasty Adventures kitesurf coaching holidays. Cheers Lee 'Pasty' Harvey Interested in learning to kitesurf in Cornwall but not sure if you want to spend the money? Then come along to the Pasty Cup, British Kitesurfing Racing Championships over the bank holiday weekend 25th - 26th may 2013 at Marazion near Penzance. Over the course of the weekend you can check out the country's top kitesurfers and have a go at powerkite flying with our free kite taster sessions. Alongside the free lessons from qualified BKSA kitesurfing instructors we will also have plenty going on from our sponsors, including marine conservation info from the National Marine Aquarium, clothing on display from Hager-Vor and competitions to win great prizes as well as plenty of giveaways from Cornwall Tourism. We will also have Philps pasties available. See you on Marazion beach in front of the Station House pub from 10am - 6pm both days. Footwork Demo Easter Sunday saw 4 kitesurfers come to Marazion for the Spring Wave Clinic with BKSA Coach Lee Pasty Harvey. Despite the severely cold ese wind and smallish waves, everyone had a great time riding strapless and learnt lots to be getting on with during the coming months. We started off with some wave theroy in the warmth of Jordans Cafe, before moving onto the water and looked at footwork, gybes, getting over waves and wave riding. The next clinic we have coming up is the Intro to Waves clinic at Gwithian or Marazion, weather depending. All the info on the clinic page. Next Wave clinic is tbc, please contact to register your interest. Thanks to Mel from Splashography for taking the pics, you can see more on his facebook page here "Hey Dude. Thanks for today I got a lot from it" Sam Lees - Bournemouth We still have a couple of spaces left on our exciting Kite Surfari to Boa Vista next month. If anyone is interested please contact [email protected] asap as flight prices are changing all the time and with a max number of 6 people, we don't want you to miss out. Full details of the trip can be found here or simply go to our Holidays page. Check out what we can expect in the video below from Edge watersports latest trip to Boa Vista. With warm water (shortie needed on windy days) and constant 9-12m wind with hardly any other kiters, Boa Vista is the perfect place to improve your kitesurfing level with coaching from BKSA Coach - Lee Pasty Harvey |
